Recycling & Garbage Pickup

Garbage Pick-up Service is included in your monthly HOA Dues.

There is no need to start service with them and the below information is to help you with questions.


ABC Disposal Systems is our trash and recycling service provider.



PLEASE NOTE: Garbage and Recyclables should be set at the curb by 5:00 a.m. every Tuesday. When a holiday falls on the regular pickup day, the collections will be one day later. (ex: Fourth of July falls on a Tuesday, ABC will pick up on Wednesday that week) *subject to change.



REGULAR PICKUP:


NOT ACCEPTED:

  • Appliances & water heaters
  • Cardboard
  • Concrete
  • Corrosive materials including batteries & drain cleaners
  • Explosives including ammunition, propane cylinders & tanks
  • Fluorescent lamps
  • Hazardous waste – i.e. antifreeze or other liquid chemicals
  • Ignitable materials, solvents
  • Liquid Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Scrap metal
  • Tires
  • Untreated medical waste
  • Yard waste



RECYCLE PRODUCTS:


ACCEPTED ITEMS:

Aluminum, tin, or steel cans (emptied and rinsed)

  • Cardboard boxes, fiber board, and brown bags
  • Office paper, white or colored
  • Newspapers, inserts, junk mail, magazines, catalogs, phone books, and paper back books
  • Plastic bottles and jugs with #1-7 in the triangle on the item bottom (empty, and rinsed)



NOT ACCEPTED FOR REGULAR PICKUP:

  • Buckets
  • Building or construction materials
  • Chemical or pesticide containers
  • Glass Bottles or Jars
  • Household waste, food waste or food-tainted items
  • Hazardous, Automotive, or Electrical Materials
  • Plastic bags
  • Styrofoam, containers or packaging
  • Yard waste



NEWSPAPER & MAGAZINES: If they won’t fit in your Recycle Bin, tie them in bundles with string or twine and set them on the ground beside the bin. NOTE: If rain/snow storm or winds are expected, place a plastic bag around the bundle and tie the top of the bag securely.


GLASS FOOD and BEVERAGE CONTAINERS: - washed with the lids and labels removed.


TIN & ALUMINUM CANS: Washed with paper labels removed.


ALUMINUM FOIL: Clean only.


PLASTIC: All plastics with the recycling triangle #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 on them, except motor oil and anti-freeze containers. White milk jugs are also accepted. All plastics must be washed clean and please remove labels when possible.


CHIPBOARD BOXES: This is the cardboard that cereal boxes are made from. The inside bag or packing must be removed. The boxes must be flattened.


CORRUGATED CARDBOARD BOXES: - Must be flattened. If they won’t fit in your Recycle Bin, tie them in bundles with string or twine and set them on the ground beside the bin. NOTE: If rain/snow storm or winds are expected, place a plastic bag around the bundle and tie the top of the bag securely.


DISPOSAL OF RECYCLING AND WASTE NOT IDENTIFIED ABOVE


The Disposal and/or recycling of Items not picked up by ABC, as identified above, are at the expense and responsibility of you, (the Owner.) 


We are providing you the following information, as well as, a link to the Linn County – Marion and Cedar Rapids Solid Waste Agency, as an alternate site for recycling and disposal.


Note: They do not pick your items up. You must deliver your items to their facility. Some of the items they accept are: Batteries and Bulbs, Electronics, Hazardous materials (such as Paint or Cleaners), Appliances, Tires, Scrap Metal and Clothing. 


(Please visit their web site or contact them by phone or in person, regarding their hours of operation, questions you may have about the items you need to recycle or dispose of, a complete list of the items they accept, as well as, the fees they charge. Charges are very reasonable and in some cases there is no charge at all.)
